8/7/2023 0 Comments Panasonic full frame mount![]() ![]() Bye main reason would be adapting my favorite SLR and rangefinder lenses. I’ve been considering a FF camera to augment my M4/3 and Panasonic keeps rising to the top, followed by Nikon Z mount. My adapted lenses are Nikon AI-S, Pentax SMC Takumar, Olympus OM, Jupiter (screw mount) and Voigtländer M and 元9 mount lenses. It was one of the main reasons I chose a mirrorless system initially. My M4/3 cameras are great for adapting lenses. I prefer using the full frame for magnified view, but see the utility of PIP. Panasonic has had PIcture In Picture (PIP) magnification in their M4/3 cameras for years. The test is not exhaustive - even I don’t have enough EF mount lenses to do this. On the other hand the Fotodiox seems to have no issues with Sigma EF mount lenses but is also more widely compatible with other EF mount lenses. The good news is that Sigma have worked hard at making their EF mount lenses compatible to the MC-21 - by firmware update if necessary. Unfortunately Metabones has not offered an EF-L mount electronic adapter. Here is a link to my EF adapter comparison - the Fotodiox was doing better that the MC-21 on L-Mount but neither reach the same level of compatibility as Metabones manages for the M4/3 mount. I have already made a test of EF mount lenses EF-M4/3 (Metabones and Viltrox) and compared the same lens performance EF-L (Sigma MC-21 and Fotodiox Fusion). ![]() The Fotodiox Fusion adapter EF-L does just as well with Sigma EF lenses but is more compatible with not-Sigma EF mount lenses. The Sigma MC-21 seems to work fine with Sigma EF mount lenses but is less useful with other EF mount lenses. The only issue is the restrictions put on the body by Panasonic which lock out their fancy focus settings and C-AF when using EF mount lenses. Need to play more, but anyone else using this as an adapted platform?Ĭannot see why not - the S1 is a good horse for adapting lenses already and there seem to be plenty of L-Mount adapters to be had. The EVF could be better, but I like the frame within a frame for composing and focusing. Still getting used to it, but good sleeper candidate for adapted lenses. ![]() Good to know at least that Sigma EF on the MC-21 work okay. If I keep the S5 (some things I really like, some I don't) I want a couple lenses that aren't affordably available in L mount. ![]()
